Abstract

FRANCISCO SUAREZ S. J.1 was born in Granada, of illustrious lineage. When he applied for his entry into the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) they were not inclined to admit it because they found him physically and intellectually weak.

He studied Philosophy in Salamanca and after finishing his studies and jesuit training, became a teacher, brilliant, in Segovia, Valladolid, Rome, Alca-la, Salamanca and Coimbra. Remember that at that time the best universities were Salamanca, Coimbra and Alcalá.

The Society of Jesus, founded by S. Ignacio de Loyola and approved by Pope Paul III in 1540, thanks to the wise formation received by its members, its confrontation with contemporary problems and the admirable Ratio Studiorum they created, became the greatest educational force in the world. Keep in mind that among the thousands and thousands of egregious disciples of jesuit schools are, in France, S. Francisco de Sales, Descartes, Corneille, Bossuet, Moliere, Colbert, Bourdaloue, Rousseau, De Maistre...; in Italy, Tasso, Goldoni, Alfieri, Vico, etc.; in Spain, Calderón, Lope de Vega, Cervantes, etc. In this context, Francisco Suarez came to excel as the most eminent thinker of that Order, which means having been something of the best.
