Abstract
"Instruct can any; educate, only whoever is a living gospel."
This thought of one of the most successful educators in Latin America, Don José de la Luz y Caballero, is at the root of the entire educational process.
Because instructing is transmitting information about a systematic scheme. This is best done by the specialist in any field of knowledge, which is surely easy because "from the abundance of the heart speaks the mouth".
But the specialist is, by definition, a man from a limited field of knowledge. Or as I once read, he's "a man who knows more and more about less and less."
The educator, on the other hand, not only transmits information but, above all, lived values. And in this, as in any other transaction, no one gives what they don't have.
Living values is the opposite of the narrowness of specialization: the whole person, not a segment, gets involved in it.
This came to mind last week when mind that, in my opinion, is preferable." abortion is at the discretion of the mother until the fetus is viable outside her womb." but also of a mother whose judgment is tempered by "the wisdom decanted centuries of very painful spiritual growth, in one also watered with the blood of so much martyr (mother or son), who was left in promise in the clandestine act of aborting".
In this way, it is saved, I believe, on the one hand, the smoothness of conscience of the mother and, on the other hand, we make sure as soon as it is humanly possible to ensure that the very difficult decision that denies life to a new being whose humanity is debatable will not yet be taken either blindly or irresponsibly.
