Abstract

The Structural Adjustment Process means change, it meant moving towards a production that will allow society as a whole to be a whole higher level of well-being and growth. This requires a Structural Adjustment Programme, which sets out measures to make it easier for structural adjustment to take place.
The role of the export sector within a Structural Adjustment Process is considered essential, which is why the Costa Rican Chamber of Exporters (CADEXCO) has considered it its obligation to submit its proposal for what it believes a Structural Adjustment Program should contain, in order to meet the proposed targets for Costa Rican society of a higher level of well-being and growth.
This proposal was prepared by the Licda. Sylvia Fletcher, Honorary President of CADEXCO, who in addition to being an excellent entrepreneur, is one of the brightest economists in our country. To her all our appreciation for this valuable contribution.
At its meeting on Thursday, July 11, 1991, the Board of Directors of the Costa Rican Chamber of Exporters hosted the Licda document. Fletcher as your official position.
As President of this House, I proceed to present our proposal for a STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAMME, with the consideration of the President of the Republic, the high authorities of the Central Government, the Legislative Assembly, the Business Sector, the Labour Sector, the Press, and public opinion.
