Abstract

Paul Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming, United States, on January 28, 1912. He spent his youth in the West, between Arizona and California. From 1925 to 1929 he studied at the Escuela Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Los Angeles, and then moved to New York, where he continued his art studies at the Art Students League for two years, mainly with Thomas Hart Benton. There has been much comment on the curious fact that the most abstract of American painters, has been a disciple of a realist like Benton, but Pollock rehearsed many masters and styles before forming his: Mexicans, surrealists, "Picasso (1881 – 1973) (see 1.-"Picasso, true genius of modern art", by ARTISTS, of the Academic Act number 24) and others.

Pollock frequently returned west before setting up his residence on Long Island, New York.
