Enfermedad Celíaca Una revisión sistémica para la atención en salud

Abstract
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease of increasing incidence in our environment. Its complex pathophysiology that involves genetic, environmental and immunological factors leads it to be a systemic disease with heterogeneous presentation, with extraintestinal symptoms being predominant in the adult population. The diagnosis is established through clinical history, specific serological markers and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with duodenal biopsies. Adequate and prompt dietary introduction leads to an improvement in the symptoms and quality of life of patients, which in turn reduces the nutritional consequences and complications of the disease. New and innovative therapeutic strategies continue to be studied.
