Pharmacological update of the mechanisms of action and management of high blood pressure. Review article
Main Article Content
Abstract
As part of the understanding of the mechanism of action and effectiveness of hypotensive drugs, a review of the scientific literature is made, regarding the different related therapeutic targets, as well as the receptors involved in the response to antihypertensive therapies.
The demonstrated efficacy of antihypertensive drugs is probably related to their therapeutic targets and their signaling mechanisms or second messengers, whose clinical evidence is consolidated in the recommendations of the most recent clinical practice guidelines American Heart Association (AHA 2017), European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and Hypertension (ESC/ ESH 2018), which will also be commented on in this review.
