Towards the cultural relevance of the curriculum prospects of a necessary reform

Abstract

The implementation of a culturally relevant curriculum allows rescue, in a globalized world, the historical and cultural reality of those involved in the educational process. To promote, in an environment respectful of diversity and linked to the social context in which the educational context, develops a contextualized education objectively meets the demands and needs of the individual and social development of the human being in the new century. The search for a relevant curriculum requires profound changes which are oriented towards the achievement of a new perspective to achieve a profound reform of the educational system, taking as axis the appreciation and estimation by their own culture, equal opportunities of access and the development of an education based on constructivist methods of meaningful education. Teachers and students are the main actors in this curriculum reform, and as such should be fully identified and involved in this process.
