Abstract

How could private universities appear in our nation?

Parents with children in secondary schools convened a group of college students in 1972 to raise their concerns about their children's futures seeking university studies.

On the one hand, there was only the University of Costa Rica. In it, new students were accepted in much lower numbers than in high school who completed their secondary education annually. Moreover, the upheaval, especially leftist in those years, at the public university, gave bad thorns to parents, who lamented that a University paid for by a Christian and democratic nation had to suffer that groups had so unmeasured influence without Christian or democratic vocation.
