Abstract

This extraordinary woman, who made personal tragedy an authentic artistic work, was a controversial, courageous, revolutionary, tormented, rebellious and temperamental character. Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was the third daughter of Hungarian-German Guillermo Kahlo and Mexico's Matilde Calderón. She was born in Coyoacán, Mexico, on July 6, 1907 and not in 1910 as she insisted on claiming; at last, woman or, as some authors say, perhaps wanted to coincide with the birth of the Mexican Revolution.
