Abstract

Water is an element of nature, which has been present on the Earth since 3000 million years ago. It is also the fundamental molecule for life. Despite being so simply composed, by three atoms only, it’s molecule has a somewhat strange behaviour. However, living beings are absolutely dependent upon it for their existence, and it is therefore called the fluid of life. This article comments on several important physicochemical properties of this fluid, which have been essential for the origin and sustainment of life in our planet.
