Abstract

"It is up to Central America to have developed the first process of economic integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, which, in its first stage, came to be considered as a world model." The Central American Common Market thus presented itself as a useful way to create regional industries capable of producing intermediate and capital goods under competitive conditions, that is, plants of optimum size to obtain the benefits of economies of scale, in addition to enabling planning for those countries of the region that have not yet started or that were in the initial phase of their industrial development.
