Abstract

It is quite common to see industrial workers exposed to several inhalants. Inhalants are defined as gaseous, liquid or solid substances which can penetrate the human body through inhalation. This article defines and classifies the most commonly used inhalants in Costa Rica’s industrial environment. It also contains their threshold limit values, kinetics and dinamics of the intoxication, clinical manifestations and preventive  measures. For some substances, it also includes the international treatment protocols for the intoxications, as well as some prognostic factors.
