Abstract

This article describes the four basic stages that must be followed to give an online course: course planning, weekly design in the virtual platform, course development and evaluation techniques in a virtual environment. First, the author will refer to the steps for planning the course. As a second point, the course design in the virtual platform will be explained. This design aims to orient the student regarding the contents, activities, resources and evaluation of each week. Third, the fundamental aspects that must be taken into account for the development of the online course will be analyzed. Finally, evaluation strategies, which are to be applied during the virtual learning process, will be addressed. In order to develop the present article, a qualitative analysis was carried out based on the author’s experience regarding the development of the virtual courses given to the professors of the Autonomous University of Central America. In addition, a literature review was done to validate the conclusions of that experience.
