Abstract

By Ethics I mean the set of norms of conduct that make it morally acceptable to everyone from the perspective of some ultimate goal in human life: God, happiness, just social order, the preservation of man's rational nature, peaceful cooperation, etc. As such, it responds to conscious motivations of strong emotional intensity that are translated into the severity of the sanctions with which each violation of its precepts is punished. I see Ethics here from the angle of "methodological individualism", that is, from the assumption that individuals, not group abstractions, are ultimately responsible for the good or evil that is done.
