Abstract

The fourteen students today awarded for their exceptional merits are a paradigm of scholars, but also of our peculiar way of being as a University, to which I wish to refer in this praise.

Alberto Di Mare, Co-founder, ex-Chancellor, Executive Director, Benefactor, Doctor Honoris Causa and Professor of the Autonomous University of Central America; Deán, ex-Teacher and Tutor of the Economics career at the Stvdivm Generale Costarricense of that University. Former professor at the University of Costa Rica, Minister of Planning (1966-68), Director of the Central Bank of Costa Rica (1968-70). Former president of the National Association for Economic Development (ANFE) and the Academy of Central America. Columnist for La Nación. Member of the Montpélerin Society. Born in 1931, he is married to Annemarie Hering. 4 children, 4 grandchildren.
