Human resources: steps to develop a socialization manual
Main Article Content
Abstract
Concern about trying to socialize employees is not new, and current practices do not differ considerably from the traditional emphasis on Human Resources. What is perhaps different is the emphasis on a quality-oriented organizational culture as a desired result of induction or socialization. This goal requires organizations to resource and structure the socialization process differently to include a realistic vision that expects predictable behaviors and encourages socialization.
Once employees have been successfully recruited and selected, the next step is to socialize and train them. This is where they are provided with the information they require to succeed in their new positions and where older ones communicate some of their experience to new ones.
Socialization and training are important factors in motivation. For motivation to occur, employees must believe that the effort will produce satisfactions, rewards, and rewards; and it is through induction and layer-citation that they are provided with the knowledge they need to successfully perform their tasks and obtain those rewards.
