Abstract

Historian Hendrick Van Loon (Story of Mankind) said there are too many kissers in this world; And it's true. But not only do we kiss the hand of people who acquire preeminence, we kiss ideas too, and that's why it's healthy a little irreverence.
I recently heard a Spanish journalist and excellent poet defining his current affairs: "We live in a democracy, in a rule of law, and under the dictatorship of the market; which is, after all, the least bloody of dictatorships." He defined it very well, and he didn't go into trial if this is good. He was referring to Europe, of course, which is now a province of "America," as they call the United States. We go far behind, but on the same path: we have not accepted the new dogma, nor have we rejected the old one, and we do not agree on the way forward.
