Professor for forty years of History of Thought, former Minister of Education of Costa Rica (1966-1969), former Deputy (1982-1986), co-founder of the Autonomous University of Central America (1975-1976), Rector of it since its foundation in 1976; author of several books and many articles; radio commentator for the PANORAMA program since 1982. Commander of the Civil Order "Alfonso El Sabio"; Grand'Ufficiale Dell'Ordine al Mérito della Repubblica Italiana; Officer in the Order of the Academic Palms of the République Francaise; "Democracy and Freedom Award" from the Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce (1990); Honorary Academician of the Costa Rican Academy of Genealogical Sciences; Doctor Honoris Causa from the Autonomous University of Central America with the mention of Magnvs Docendi Libertatis Defender.

Abstract

Costa Rica has experienced university demonstrations due to the presence of universities there. These institutions have been characterized by a certain conception of the human being, its ends and the means: organization, entry requirements, form of financing.
