Abstract

«Max Jiménez was a creator of undoubted teluric force, who, with his primitive aesthetics, imprisoned in art our black, vital and eternal muse.»
In modern times, deserved recognition has resurfaced both locally and inter-nationally towards this great artist, who was a painter, sculptor, cartoonist, engraver, poet, writer, photographer and journalist and, in addition to alternating all this intellectual potential with agricultural and livestock work, carried an annihilating bohemian.
Max Jiménez Huete was born in San José, Costa Rica, on April 16, 1900. As the centenary of his birth was celebrated, he loathed as the most representative penthouse in the art of the twentieth century.
Max attended seminary school and completed it in 1917. Then, in 1919, he left for England, where he enrolled in a commercial career, which two years later he left for art studies in drawing techniques.
