Abstract

Distributed database design is a complicated process that includes many factors to consider. In addition, object-oriented distributed databases are a generalization of relationshipal databases, they not only inherit design problems present in relationshipal distributed databases, but also present additional problems related to the schema that is composed of the classes. This article introduces the description of the new arrays developed for object-oriented databases that are generalizations of the arrays used in the fragmentation process in relationshipal distributed databases. In addition, the fragmentation scheme is proposed for object-oriented databases of different levels of complexity.
