Abstract

The present work aims to demonstrate that the light / shadow opposition functions as a structural axis in El Señor Presidente by the Guatemalan writer Miguel Ángel Asturias. The contrasts between lights and shadows allow us to decipher some of the most significant keys of the text, which we will review through the different sections of our analysis.
