Abstract

The revolution of metagenomics on Biology and the health sciences has opened our understanding, in relation to the great diversity of microorganisms we share the Earth and the body with. DNA sequencing has made it possible to analyze many samples in a fast way, so that we have started to understand the crucial roles our co-passengers play in metabolism and physiology, evolution and human immunology, as well on diseases raging from gastrointestinal ones to cancer. The objective of this work is to explore the interactions between human genes and the microbial metagenome and to show the potential of microbiome manipulation, from the point of view of cancer chemoprevention, and therapeutics. The search was done using PubMed database and Open Access such as Public Library of Science (PLOS) between 2000 and 2020.  It is concluded there is a complex interaction among human and microbial genes, and that such interaction must be more deeply studied life sciences and human health professionals.
