Commander of the Civil Order of "Alfonso El Sabio"; Grand'Ufficiale Dell'Ordine al Mérito Della Reppublica italiana; Officer in the Order of academic palms of the République Francaise; Democracy and Freedom Award, Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce (1990); "Luis Demetrio Tinoco Award 1999" for his work Anthropology and Politics; Honorary Scholar of the Costa Rican Academy of Genealogical Sciences. Co-founder and current president of UNIRE.
