Abstract

The very consideration of architecture according to William Morris, "... encompasses the consideration of the entire physical environment that surrounds human life, we cannot subtract from it while we are part of civilization, because architecture is the set of modifications and alterations introduced on the Earth's surface, in order to meet human needs..."

Typically, you have misconformed and misconformed concepts about what architecture is. It is generally believed that an acceptable arrangement is sufficient for drawing and the success achieved in mathematics in high school, to "make beautiful buildings..."

Architecture as art and as science has taken a vital role in the development of peoples and culture through the world and in different eras. In Costa Rica it is only beginning to be found, to be defined without it having yet occupied its rightful place.

Given the historical moment that is lived, it can be affirmed, without fear of mistake, that in daily activity, in almost everything that man wears, design is present. You can't imagine a publicist, sociologist, educator, politician, psychologist, student or housewife, who doesn't take it as an instrument to satisfy some purpose.

But what is design really and what specifically architectural design? The dictionary says that the design is "trace, delineation of a building or figure" and that designer is "the one who designs or draws". In other words, design tries to make visually understandable an idea, a process of realization, or a finished creation; whether it's a chair, a bowl or a house.
